Overweight Men May Have Lower Sperm Quality
If your hubby is chubby, it might be harder for you to get pregnant, according to a study presented at the annual conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
Men with a BMI of 30 or more (considered obese) were 40 percent more likely than those with a normal BMI to have sperm abnormalities.
And they were 60 percent more likely to have less semen—that reduces the chances of a winner reaching your egg.
Excess fat may increase the testicles’ temperature and interfere with sperm quality, says lead study author Ahmad Ghiyath Shayeb, M.D.
Craving a bun for your oven? Join a gym together—studies show that being flabby can hurt your fertility, too.
